Shannon Ray Presents at Conference in Germany

Assistant Professor, Shannon Ray, Ph.D., presented at the 49th Annual Conference of the European Branch-American Counseling Association held November 6th through 9th in Wiesbaden, Germany. The conference was for mental health professionals employed by the U.S. armed forces and working with our active military personnel and their families. Dr. Ray presented a workshop entitled, “Counselors addressing crisis issues in youth,” which focused on specific ways to counsel adolescent children of military families living overseas. Dr. Ray spoke about specific crisis issues that these adolescents face, in addition to the issues faced by most or all adolescents, including threatened or actual loss of a parent, problems with living overseas and acculturation, as well as additional stressors placed on the children of military personnel. There were over 150 counselors in attendance at the conference.
